I finally broke down and entered the digital world in June 06. I really don't understand everything yet but I know you can take pictures of the aurora. I'm using a Nikon D200. In September I went out twice and tried a few shots using the same exposure times I'd normally use for film.
All pictures below were taken with a 28mm f1.4 lens on D200. ISO set at 100, white balance set to daylight, noise reduction on and exposed for 15 seconds. Using Photoshop I use adjust Auto Levels and then add a little Sharpening.

September 30, 2006. I had my granddaughter with me for her 1st viewing experience.
The next opportunity I have I'm going to try my 18/70 f3.5/4.5 lens using a higher ISO setting and staying within 30 seconds.
